The oldest collection of shoes in the world

Video in Italian | Vindolanda, a Roman colony built around 85 AD from where a legendary collection of almost 2000-year-old shoes come.

We are in the far north of England near Hadrian's Wall.
Here stands the legendary archaeological site of Vindolanda, a Roman colony built around 85 AD where a legendary collection of almost 2000-year-old shoes (from the 1st to the 4th century AD) come from.
A collection of about 5000 pairs of shoes perfectly preserved because of exceptional environmental conditions, which brings us back to the habits and customs of the Roman provinces.
A miracle of time on display at Pitti Palace until 20 September, at the "Worn by the Gods" exhibition in the Museum of Costume and Fashion.
