Lecture in Italian - Vasari Auditorium – 27th March 2019

Having devoted her life to the study of drawing of the 1400s and 1500s, Lorenza Melli is no doubt specializing in the works by the Pollaiolo brothers. In her paper she tells about the story and the "backstage" of three drawings selected from the wide range of works preserved in the Department of Prints and Drawings of the Uffizi Galleries. What those drawings reveals is that the brothers's will was to include their own city's architectures within their works. In addition, those masterpieces on paper also reveal interesting details concerning the method of execution of the cartoons and the final work.
