Pieter Paul Rubens's Risen Christ is triumphant. The Resurrection of Christ is a recurring subject in the Flemish painter's production. This work from around 1615 shows the athleticism of Christ's body caught in the moment of rising triumphantly, a gesture that opposes to the slow one with which the angel is lifting the shroud from His head.
A really evocative work that seems to announce a message of hope: the triumph of light over darkness.
