Black Presence - VII

Justin Randolph Thompson (BHMF) describes the portraits of Emperor Atana de Dinghel and Alchitrof, two works by Cristofano dell'Altissimo from the Giovio Series

Black Presence is the new project of the Uffizi Galleries concerning the presence of black culture in Renaissance Europe.
The event will focus on a series of artworks in which “black” people play a major role, embodying a pivotal character in the dynamic of the painting.
The Black Presence project kicked off symbolically on the 4th of July 2020, the anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. This is the first video of a series by Justin Randolph Thompson, special guest of the Uffizi Galleries.
