Rain bomb in Florence: no damage to the Uffizi. The museum is regularly open.

This afternoon, Thursday 17 September, during the torrential downpour in Florence (over 45 millimetres in an hour), a small amount of water seeped in at the Uffizi Gallery beneath the skylight in the room housing seven 17th-century works, including Caravaggio’s Bacchus. The water affected the outer pane of the protective display case housing the Bacchus. Following the necessary checks, no damage was found to any of the works.

The room will be open as usual from opening time tomorrow morning, 18 September.
