Joana Vasconcelos donates her self-portrait to the Uffizi
Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos donated her self-portrait to the Uffizi Galleries.
It is made with a variety of materials, in perfect Vasconcelos style: an impression on aluminium was used as the base for the artist's portrait, which was then covered with a coloured crochet hook. The whole was then placed within a faux antique frame, while the choice of adding the croquet builds a direct link with one of the installations in the artist's exhibition at the Uffizi Galleries, "Between Sky and Heart", which has the same characteristic: "Happy Family", in the Sala di Bona in Palazzo Pitti.
