Imagines 8 | Risarcimento. Per non dimenticare

Special issue on the 30th anniversary of the Via dei Georgofili massacre. On the night of 27 May 1993, a car bomb exploded in Via dei Georgofili, near the square in front of the Uffizi. The damage to the museum is extensive, some paintings are shattered, structures are seriously damaged. The collector Giuliano Gori, accepting the wish of the then museum director Annamaria Petrioli Tofani, launched a campaign of donations involving internationally renowned artists in order to 'compensate' the hard-hit artistic heritage. Thirty years after the Mafia attack, the works donated on that occasion are exhibited at the Uffizi and this special issue of Imagines is entirely dedicated to the exhibition.
