This clinging, sleeveless dress consisting wholly of sequins ranging from pink to fuchsia has a round neckline, splits at the side and a rounded hem with a train at the back.
The dress, which belonged to Donna Franca Florio (1873-1950) who was born in Palermo in 1873 and who married Don Ignazio Florio (1868-1957) before she was twenty, is part of a collection of considerable importance donated to the Palazzo Pitti museum by her daughter. This exemplar may be dated to the late 1920s when Donna Franca, though already ad- vanced in years, continued to frequent the salons in Rome where she had moved with her daughters in 1925.
Donated by the Marchesa Giulia Afan de Rivera Costaguti, 1987
