Short lilac silk taffeta dress with a bodice whose corolla neck- line consists of a series of lightly gathered scalloped decorations. The same petal motif is repeated on the inverted corolla skirt. The waist is marked by a strip belt in matching velvet. The broad lilac velvet cape has an asymmetrical hem that is longer at the back.
In 1956, the international press gave exceptional recognition to the collection that the then 26-year-old designer had presented in the Sala Bianca of the Pitti Palace. On that occasion Christian Dior (1905-57) called Roberto Capucci ‘the best creator of Italian fashion, a prodigy’.
Donated by the Associazione Tornabuoni - Lineapiù, 1988
