The sleeveless ivory silk chiffon dress with a Sabrina neckline at the front tapering to a point at the back, has two slits with shaped points at the waist. The flared skirt, a full wheel, consists of three panels cut on the bias. The fabric is embroidered with star mo- tifs in silver sequins, bugle beads and jet in transparent and silver glass throughout the dress. Madeleine Vionnet championed the liberation of the female form from constraining undergarments and created attractively flowing clothes that introduced innova- tive ornamentation and popularised the bias cut. She was one of the first couturières to copyright her models, also displaying her fingerprint on the label. This dress belonged to Margarete Ohmann Armando (1891-1977).
