The silhouette of this black woollen overcoat lined in satin and with an asymmetrical
shawlmcollar has an insect-like feel to it, pro- ducing a drapery effect both front and back.
In addition to the inside buttons and the seven buttons on each sleeve covered in the
same material, the overcoat has a single large enamelled metal button in the middle of the
waist. John Galliano, an English stylist and founder of the eponymous fash- ion house, has
worked as creative director for both Givenchy and Dior and is currently the creative director
of the Maison Margiela.
Donated by Cecilia Matteucci Lavarini, 2012
