Biscuit-coloured silk taffeta gown with a bodice embroidered with sequins and gold
netting, embellished with floral appliques in raf-fia and organza; godet basquine yoke in
raffia and gold with quadrillé embroidery; complete with highheeled sandles in raffia with
quadrillé embroidery. Gianfranco Ferré embarked on his career in the world of fashion in
1978, setting up his own company in Milan in May and showing his first women’s prêt-à-
porter collection on the Milan catwalk in October. The ‘80s marked his debut in the world of
haute couture, only a few years before his appointment as creative director of the Maison
Dior.
