The dress is made of lurex gauze with appliques in plastic and silvered varnish joined by
floating white cotton thread. Antonio Marras, a stylist of Sardinian origin, draws his
inspiration from the moods and atmospheres of his native land, which impart substance to
his interpretation of femininity. Marras’s muses are often heroines, artists and thinkers,
almost as though he wished to remind us of the matriarchy – his decision to celebrate
Adelasia of Torres (1207-59), Judge of Torres and Gallura and Queen of Sardinia, for his
autumn-winter 1998-99 haute couture collection being a perfect example of that.
Donated by Gianfranco Grimaldi, 2014
