Curiel
Short, flared dress in silk gros and black tulle, with a short, fitted bodice caught beneath the bust by a black satin ribbon that forms a bow at the front underscored by a tulle cockade. The skirt, made of three superimposed and tightly gathered layers, has a band of tulle ruffles of the same material on the upper two layers slanting down towards the hem. The dress belonged to Silvana Pampanini (1925-2016). Born in Trieste, Gigliola Curiel opened her own atelier in Milan in the postwar years. The versatility of Curiel’s creations attracted the attention of US buyers, including the buyers of the major New York department store Bergdorf Goodman.
Donated by the Associazione TornabuoniLineapiù, 1988
